CALEO NEGROAMARO, Salento, Puglia, Italy

Negroamaro means ‘bitter black’ and here we find the liquid i self certainly has a rich darkness, almost opaque quality, to it but there is absolutely no bitterness in the tasting. It is a celebration of spicy fruits, wild cherries and ripe plums swirl in the mouth with dark undertones of tobacco and rum. A wine to make even Jack Sparrow stop in his tracks!
Pairs well with meat - red meat and spices. Perhaps a bowl of fresh pomodoro pasta with chorizo and chilli would do just nicely!
